Best dressed of the Academy Awards

The Academy Awards presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, or just the Oscars if you will, is an annual recognition to the excellence of professionals in the film industry, but also the IT place to show off! Designers crave to have their dresses walked, jewellers pay to have their newest diamond creations shown and Christian Louboutin gets free publicity like never before. Celebs love to walk in red soled high heals! BUT it being the IT happening for actors and directors alike, doesn’t mean everyone looks as good as they think they do. Here are the best dressed (in my opinion).

Sandra Bullock

Sandra flaunts her figure in a shimmering beaded Marchesa gown, with delicate embroidered details on the bodice, finished off with a polished sleek hair look and bright pink lips with her own Neil Lane diamonds.

Demi Moore

Some say the ageless, others say that her Visa payed for it, but nevertheless, Demi sports her Atelier Versace tiered blush gown, Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry, Versace heels and a Ferragamo clutch. I’m loving this outfit!

Cameron Diaz

The always-smiling Hollywood actress, in all her Hollywood glamour, with a gold-dusted Oscar de la Renta gown and Cartier jewels. Perfect down to the curled looks.

Sarah Jessica Parker

Carrie would die if she had a sense of style. How dare she wear this dress?! I don’t care if it’s Chanel “Haute Couture”, or silver embroideries, she looks dreadful! SHAME ON YOU! I regret posting the “worst” dress now.

S.J.P joins the legendary Halston

Sarah Jessica Parker, known for her amazing role as Carrie Bradshaw in hit TV show Sex and the City, is joining the legendary designer house Halston!

The actress was headhunted for the job, but it is still unknown what part she will play in Halston. Some sources say she will be a creative designer, and others say she will have an even more influential job. She will start working with “Halston Heritage”, a trendy budget collection.

The fashion house is already doing well, just look at this dress!

And look at this!

Like I said, the fashion house is already doing great, but I’m looking forward to seeing the result of Parker’s experience in Halston. What do you think the result will be? Is Sarah up for the job?

Trend alert: Hot in leopard

Many people dress down when the winter is closing in, afraid to stand out from the crowd. Fall and winter doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t look your best. What’s hot this fall and winter? Leopard!

Animal detailed patterns go in and out of fashion all the time, but the best time to wear it, is always in the fall and winter season. Leopard patterns is always one of the hottest in fall, especially amongst accessories, such as boots, scarves and bags. Designers like Dsquared2 and Michael Kors showed leopard on the catwalk.

Even though leopard is not new to the crowd, it’s an easy way of putting color on a dull outfit. Celebs like Kate Moss, Leighton Meester and Ashley Smpson are more than happy wearing a cool leopard detail.

This year, people are also focusing on colorful varieties of the pattern. After Lanvin created blue colored leopard dresses for the spring/summer collection 2009, color has appeared in many varieties. Dresses, scarves, bags in pink and purple, blue and red leopard, in addition to the regular brown and black pattern. The large scarf Leighton Meester recently acquired from Louis Vuitton, is available in several colors, and are demanded as never before. Everything from celebs to fashion bloggers.

For those of you that did not read my entry on Jimmy Choo, a Jimmy Choo collection for H&M was recently launched. This collection contains a lot of hot leopard and zebra prints. The designer Tamara Mellom, is known for her jet-set life and overly dramatic animal prints. Everyone knew she would bring it to H&M!

I guess you’re all thinking how to wear leopard by now. Well, heres the deal:

A dress or a jacket in leopard, is always a statement, and you should not be afraid to use it. Be out there. The same goes for tights and tops. If you think those large garments are not for you, go for a detailed boot, ballerina, scarf or a bag. You must also remember that it’s never out of fashion to be inspired by celebrities.

Let the leopard be in focus, and never use more than one leopard printed item at the same time. With leopard, the rule is “less is more”. How do I combine colors? Leopard fits nicely with black, brown gray, but never be afraid to try out new things! It can be a success, and you might end up as the fashion icon.

Enjoy! And rock out those christmas dinners!
